Jason Mittell

Location: Middlebury, Vermont

Jason Mittell is Associate Professor of American Studies and Film & Media Culture at Middlebury College. I am the author of Genre and Television: From Cop Shows to Cartoons in American Culture (Routledge, 2004), and Television and American Culture (Oxford University Press, 2009). In the 2011-12 academic year, I was a Fellow at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg at the University of Göttingen, collaborating with the Research Unit on Popular Seriality, and writing my newest book project: Complex Television: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, to be published by New York University Press and available in-process for open peer review via MediaCommons Press. I am also co-editor of How to Watch TV (forthcoming from NYU Press). I write the blog Just TV.
