Paper Moon: A sight and sound project

by Milena Santoro

This clip was made for the first sight and sound project assigned in the gateway to film and media studies course. The objective was to select found footage or create a short film of 1-2 minutes and set it to a soundtrack that makes us think differently about what we are seeing. This clip, an original piece, uses an old LP recording of a Georgetown a cappella group, and sets that with a short narrative. What is notable here is the choice of a low camera angle, depth of focus, and the rhythm of the cuts which follows the chords of the music. The night footage creates a feeling of nostalgia and yet also translates the struggle of pulling an all-nighter with the handheld camera footage.
