This short cartoon, directed an animated by Mickey Mouse co-creator Ub Iwerks, provides an interesting example of 1930s animation style. It also follows in the tradition dating from pre-cinematic times of animations being used to create ghoulish and spooky effects

Flip the Frog - Spooks

Flip hides from a storm in a castle where he meets several skeletons. The cartoon makes full use of medium specificity, with the skeletons performing actions live actors never could at this time
