Fast and Furry-ous

by Nicholas Sammond

This is the first of the Road Runner series, and it establishes important tropes in that series. Wile E. Coyote relies on gadgetry that fails him, as always, and as always already he experiences that sinking feeling as he hangs in mid-air before plunging into pain. But in that moment he looks toward the audience, begging us for help. This is the sadistic-masochistic mode of comedy.
