1.2 Intolerance

Although Intolerance is a narrative film of extraordinary ambition, this shot puts the technology of movement on display. The camera moves forward, and an elevator lowers it to the ground. Rather than move toward a particular character, the primary purpose is to let us know just how enormous the Babylon set is. (Excerpt from The Dynamic Frame, Chapter 1).
