Diff’rent Strokes, “The Reporter” (Nancy Reagan, Guest) Season 5/Episode 22 (1983)

by Phil Ethington

Nancy Reagan pitches her “Just Say No” anti-drugs campaign to Arnold’s (Gary Coleman) class. Reagan’s “Just Say No” campaign was a phenomenon. The campaign was a simplistic approach to the “drug problem.” It essentially framed drug addiction as a choice of morality. In this episode, the First Lady is given an extensive platform to promote the Just Say No program to the nation, with children acting supporting roles.
