Child's-eye-view in Bicycle Thieves

by Michelle Langford

This clip from Vittorio De Sica’s neorealist film Bicycle Thieves provides a good example of key elements of neo-realism: location shooting, simple story about simple people, non-professional actors and the perspective of the child. Here our view of the father Antonio is focalised through the perspective of the little boy, Bruno.
