Long take in Breathless

Known for its innovative jump cuts, Breathless also uses the long take in many scenes. Critics describe the elliptical editing in Breathless in a range of ways: from an attempt to shorten a film that was too long the to Godard's attempt to uncover a filmic equivalent to jazz. Most of these critics don't account for the long takes in Breathless, which may represent the source footage of a director who preferred the hand held camera because it was quicker and easier during production,.
