Edison film on location

by Kate Fortmueller

This Edison film (shot by Edwin Porter) is shot on location. While this film resembles many of the Lumiére actualities (diagonals and sense of depth in the frame) the humorous resolution makes this distinct from many of the actualities. Although the film does not have a narrative or protagonist, the title does set up a subtle sense of mystery and suspense.
