Lulu and desire

by Kate Fortmueller

In Pandora's Box, Lulu (Louise Brooks) is the object of desire for many men. Her position as female subject, new woman, and object of the gaze has been debated amongst many scholars. This sequence demonstrates her relationship with several men, but also how she functions as object of the gaze both for the characters in the film as well as the audience for the film.
