Location shooting in Lumière films

Many of the popular Edison films were shot in his studio (the Black Maria), while the Lumière films were shot on location. Although some of their first films were shot around the Lumière factory, they also sent cameramen on location to film famous (and/or exotic) places and peoples. Their international subjects gave audiences the opportunity to see subjects in a way they had never seen them before.
