Point of View

by Kate Fortmueller

Grandma's Reading Glasses (1900) is an example of how narrative developed in film. Although this film does not have a proper narrative, this film thematizes the act of looking and plays with the point of view shot.  The film uses matting to draw attention to each close-up.
