More does not mean merrier

The law of diminishing marginal utility tells us that at one point more will not mean merrier. There comes a point where more actually decreases the total utility! This is why we don't eat forever at an all-you-can-eat buffet!

Howard brings his girlfriend over to Leonard and Sheldon's apartment unannounced, but Leonard quickly remarks "the more the merrier." Sheldon alludes to the point that they may be at their optimal level because more does not equal merrier.
