Modern Family: Expression vs. Protection

by Aimee DuBois

These are several clips from the ABC comedy "Modern Family" season 2, eposide "Strangers on a Treadmill". These clips illustrate one of the relational dialectic tensions experienced in all interpersonal relationships. Expression versus protection is the dialectic pull between being expressing (being open, honest, candid) and being protective (keeping some information and thoughts to yourself, protecting the self or the other)
