Commentaries on this Media!
Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life" shows the childhood of a boy through an extended sequence of vignettes, separated by hard cuts and presented in linear order. The sequence takes on some of the traits of a musical montage, albeit a musical montage set to classical music — a staple of Malick's films.
