The opening credits sequence of Nancy Meyers' 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap" features a couple (Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson) getting married. Fade out, then fade in to: 11 years and 9 months later, when their daughter is at summer camp. Undoubtedly, the "11 years and 9 months later" tag provides a very literal cue that time has passed, but the transition between opening credits and first act is another classic delineator of time in cinema, magnified in this case between the fades in and out.
