An ironic twist on narratively integrated product placement

by Critical Commons Manager

Product placement in Hollywood media increasingly veers toward plot-based integration of consumer goods, rather than mere visibility. In scenes such as this from Three Kings, characters in the movie engage in protracted discussion of the attributes of the luxury cars they hope to steal. This narrative thread is resolved ironically when the cars are destroyed by landmines in the Iraqi desert.
