Aestheticized code in the title design of Matrix Reloaded

by Critical Commons Manager

The opening title sequence of The Matrix Reloaded displays a necessary conceit of the film to follow, namely that everyday objects, symbols and bodies are composed of underlying cascades of abstract, aestheticized - some would say orientalized - computer code. This sequence thus serves both to set a frenetic tone for the action narrative that follows and to establish a visual vocabulary for the depiction of software that will appear on CRT monitors throughout the film.
