How to make computer programming more exciting

The Hollywood imaginary goes through some extreme acrobatics to make computer programming appear to be anything but the drudgery that it often is. In the opening title sequence of Take Down, the story of "the world's greatest hacker" Kevin Mitnick, this is carried to extremes, with quick-cut montages of computer screens, sex clubs and criminal investigations, while a sullen Mitnick played by Skeet Ulrich stares at the screen with sociopathic intensity.
