Subservient President on CNN

by Critical Commons Manager

CNN reporter Jeanne Moos filed this report on politically engaged internet art during the 2004 presidential campaign, shortly after the Democratic National Convention in Boston, when Flash-based net art was still a relative novelty. The Subservient President was a parody of Burger King's Subservient Chicken advertising campaign, which was created by The Barbarian Group for advertising agency Crispin, Porter and Bogusky earlier that year. The parody site was created by USC Interactive Media professor Steve Anderson and the site was played by more than 12 million unique visitors during its first month online.
