Powers of Ten as information visualization

The Eames received funding from IBM to create this classic of information visualization based on increasing or decreasing optical magnification by factors of 10. This was part of a much larger project by both the Eames and IBM to promote what we would now call "computational literacy," which included the Eames's Mathematica, the longest continuously installed exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles (now the California Science Center).
