Optical printing and title designby Critical Commons Manager
The art of optical printing was among the first casualties of digital visual effects in the 1990s and 2000s. While some stalwart practitioners such as experimental filmmaker (and sometime Hollywood effects artist) Pat O'Neill continue to innovate and merge optical and digital effects, the one-time ubiquity of sequences such as this to create visual spectacle have become a thing of the past. The use of negative imagery, loop-printing and heavy color filters also serve to conceal irregularities in action choreography.
