Computers without screens

by Critical Commons Manager

NASA computer operators interact with dozens of computers in preparation for a space launch but no one is looking at computer screens in this expository scene from Lost in Space. In 1965, buttons, switches, knobs and lights that flash on and off were the key signifiers of high technology as it was imagined 30 years in the future. Opaque projectors provide the only visual representations in the entire control center, but these appear to be static images of galactic formations.
