iPad ubiquity and technofetish narrative

by Critical Commons Manager

The Mission Impossible series is known for its showcase sequences of near-future technologies, invariably deployed in conjunction with high-end product placement for consumer goods. By contrast, the presence of a mere iPad and gestural, touch interface seems prosaic and underwhelming. Couldn't Tom Cruise have worn some sort of head-mounted, holographic projector with corneal control to show these intelligence images to co-star Paula Patton?
