Life Magazine ad offers visual resonance of the JFK assassination

by Critical Commons Manager

The October 2, 1964 issue of Life Magazine commemorating the second anniversary of the JFK assassination published this ad for the Lincoln Continental, which was the kind of car JFK was in when he was assassinated in Dallas. The ad also features a Jackie Kennedy lookalike wearing a pink Chanel suit. By what logic does this advertisement hope to benefit from such a close association with the assassination?
