Computer school for girls

by Critical Commons Manager

A pompous male computer teacher at a girls' school demonstrates part of the process by which women have been systematically excluded from high tech industries. In 1984, when this film was made, it probably made perfect sense for Supergirl to enroll in computer classes upon her arrival on earth. This clip also reveals the dangers of internalized gender discrimination when a classmate of Supergirl's advises her against seeming too smart and technically competent: "Don't go showing it off because nobody's going to like you."
