Confessions of a Nazi Spy end

While most industry leaders believed it prudent to avoid making films that took sides in the developing European conflict or denounced fascist doctrine, Jack and Harry Warner were not so reticent.  Despite the objections of their fellow moguls and the censorship apparatus of the Hays Office, they produced this film--the first direct, no-holds-barred attack on Nazi ideology.  The film was released in May 1939, more than three months before World War II began.
