Mainframe computers for theme park management

by Critical Commons Manager

In 1973, high technology was still widely signified by room-sized mainframe computers with panels full of blinking lights and rapid-seeking tape-drives, but an especially futuristic control room such as the one imagined for Westworld required monitors to display 3D computer graphics for their operators to monitor. The theme park central control in Michael Crichton's sci-fi technology-run-amok thriller Westworld looks like the control center for a NASA space mission.
