Watchmen title sequence

by Critical Commons Manager

The opening credit sequence of Watchmen uses the trope of a lightning history montage to convey historical context

Accompanied by Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changing," the Watchmen title sequence situates the narrative within the historical context of the post-WWII United States, appropriating iconic imagery to signify the passage of time and rewriting "history" to include a parallel universe narrative where masked crusaders participate in local and international events from crime-fighting to Communist containment and nuclear energy.
