DUNN'S REEL: Once Upon a Honeymoon - Demo Optical Dolly
by Clifford Galiher `

This demo from Dunn's RKO Effects Reel breaks down how three static camera setups were integrated into the illusion of a dolly shot using invisible wipes and an optical pan. The final shot shows how imperceptible the final result can be. As it appears in the film, no indication of a dolly shot is possible--this footage contains the only hint that optical effects were used--throwing into relief the invisible and pervasive role that optical effects played in the typical production process.
