FILM: Holiday Affair - Closing Shot Invisible Wipe
by Clifford Galiher `

Oddly, Dunn's RKO Effects Reel truncates this clip, keeping only the closing logo and omitting the film's unusual final shot (actually two shots joined by an invisible wipe). It is perhaps the simplest optical effect, but put to imaginative use. Compared to other clips on the reel, which show extended footage of a scene that is abbreviated in the final film, the shortening of this effect seems inexplicable (although its positioning at the end of the sequence does make sense). Because the reel appears to run less than eleven minutes (a standard 16mm reel would last twelve minutes), it is possible that this clip was damaged when the reel was digitally transferred.
