Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, Pablo Picasso, 1907

Painted by Picasso in Paris during the summer of 1907, this painting is seen as a transitional piece in Picasso's work: as his attempt to bridge the gap between his previous works and the style of Cubism that he helped invent and define. It shows five nude women gathered around some grapes and apples, standing in seductive poses.
